Where to stay

Quiet midweek breaks in gay Blackpool

Monday to Wednesday is gentler and cheaper, with quizzes, bingo, karaoke and daily drag; here is where to stay and what to do.

If your idea of a Blackpool break is a slow breakfast, a seafront stroll and an easy evening, midweek is perfect. Our season notes call spring the time for a gentler pace, and winter the cheapest time to stay. The scene does not stop, it just breathes.

Where should I stay for a quiet midweek break?

What is on Monday to Wednesday?

DayWhat
MondayThe Flying Handbag Monday Mayhem from 8pm until 3am, karaoke; bingo plus Blankety Blank Wayne hosts it at Peek-a-Booze (from 7pm); inclusive LGBTQ+ football 7pm to 8pm
TuesdayDJ Keiron's 9pm karaoke at Peek-a-Booze
WednesdayQuizMania with Miss Amber 4pm to 8pm at The Flying Handbag, then karaoke; free bingo from 7pm at Peek-a-Booze; Funny Girls show night

Garlands also lists free drag daily, starting in the afternoon. Funny Girls lists show nights Wednesday to Sunday, so Wednesday is the earliest midweek chance. Rendezvous is closed Monday and Tuesday on listed hours, so skip it then.

Is Blackpool dead on a Tuesday?

No, but it is quieter. Tuesday has fewer listed events, so combine karaoke with a seafront walk and an early dinner. Check venue pages before you set out, because smaller bars may trim hours in the quieter months.

Anything different on a Thursday?

Thursday brings Thirsty Thursday at The Flying Handbag, Wayne's karaoke night at Peek-a-Booze, and the monthly LGBTQ+ swimming hour each month on its final Thursday.

A sample midweek day

  1. Breakfast at your guest house.
  2. Stroll the Promenade or visit to the Tower or North Pier.
  3. Afternoon free drag at Garlands.
  4. Dinner at one of the venues in our food guide.
  5. Quiz, bingo or karaoke, depending on the day.

Things to check

Smaller bars may trim hours in quieter months, and some listings do not publish times. Check the venue pages and open tonight before setting out. If you are travelling alone, the quiz and bingo nights are friendly ways to meet people.

Who is midweek best for?

Couples, solo travellers and anyone who prefers talking to shouting over the music. Lawrence House mentions evening meals as a good fit for a quiet night, and a pair of friends can easily fill a Tuesday with a long dinner, a walk and an early finish.

Why midweek works

Midweek means a table at the roast-and-quiz places, a calmer breakfast room and more time to talk to the hosts. It also means fewer venues running late, so plan your evening around the events above rather than wandering in hope.

Staying two or three nights? Spread the show, the quiz and a sauna visit across different evenings, and keep one night free for a long dinner.

Policies, prices and facilities can change, so confirm details with the property before you book.
