Where to stay

Budget stays for a gay weekend in Blackpool

You can stay in the Rainbow Quarter without a big bill: these simpler stays and bar rooms suit tighter budgets, with the one listed price.

Blackpool is already one of the better-value places for an LGBTQ+ weekend, and the quarter has a handful of simpler stays. We only quote one price because it is the only one published in our data: rooms at Lawrence House from about £50 with breakfast. For everything else, treat the descriptions as guides and check rates directly.

Which stays are described as budget or simple?

How do I keep the cost down?

  1. Go midweek or in spring and winter, the cheapest periods in our season notes. See quiet midweek breaks.
  2. Pick a stay close to the bars so you skip taxis; most are 1 to 6 minutes from the station.
  3. Choose a free night: Garlands has free entry and daily drag.
  4. Ask Peek-a-Booze about room-and-show deals if you are seeing Funny Girls.

What is cheap to do while you are here?

Free bingo runs on Wednesday evenings at Peek-a-Booze, with Play Your Cards Right at 9pm, and Garlands lists no entry charge, daily, with queens on stage from the afternoon. Funny Girls standing tickets start around £10, and seats run from roughly £17 up to £35 by night; see planning a drag night.

Are budget stays safe and welcoming?

They are LGBTQ+ venues, so the welcome is a given, but simple means simple. Several have stairs only, and some rooms have limited headroom or a steep staircase. Read each stay's page, and our safety page for late-night tips.

When is the best time to book?

Pride weekend and Illuminations weekends fill first and rooms cost most; check Pride weekend hotels. Everything else is a better bet for bargains.

What simple means in practice

A budget stay trades facilities for price. Expect stairs rather than lifts, smaller rooms and fewer extras. The B&B Blackpool and Evanescent are simple stays with a bar attached, while Peek-a-Booze and also Lu-Lu's keep the entertainment downstairs.

Parking and extras

If you are driving, The B&B Blackpool lists a £5 parking option you should pre-book. Elsewhere, parking costs roughly £13 to £19 for a full day at the nearby car parks, so a station-side stay without a car can save more than the room rate.

Check before you commit

Because prices change, treat everything here as a starting point. Compare the rate for your dates directly with the property, and ask what is included.

Policies, prices and facilities can change, so confirm details with the property before you book.
