How to plan a drag night out in Blackpool

Blackpool has big-theatre drag, free pub drag and cabaret bars; here is how to pick, book and combine them in one night.

Drag shows in Blackpool come in three flavours: a full theatre production, free drag in a camp pub, and cabaret bars where the host is your friend by the end of the night. You can do all three in an evening.

What are my drag options?

Do you need to book Funny Girls?

Yes for Fridays and Saturdays, which sell out first. Box office hours are listed as Monday to Friday, 9:30am to 5:30pm. Some shows use pyrotechnics and loud bangs, and the venue asks you to phone about access.

Can I have dinner first?

Garbo's pre-show dinner, served in the Art Deco restaurant, is available on show nights, listed at £29.85 for three courses. See our food guide.

What is a good drag evening in order?

  1. Afternoon or early evening: free drag at Garlands.
  2. Dinner at Garbo's, or another venue with food.
  3. Doors at Funny Girls at 7pm.
  4. Aftershow karaoke at Oscars, in the same building, from around 11pm Wednesday to Saturday.
  5. Finish at The Flying Handbag.

What about special seasons?

Funny Girls runs seasonal shows: the Halloween show until 1 November 2026, a New Year's Eve party, and 2027 shows including Spring Fling and Heatwave. Viva Blackpool lists drag brunches on 17 April, 11 September and 18 December 2027, from £39.95. McGraths has a Halloween takeover on 31 October 2026.

Choosing your seats

Funny Girls offers standing and seated tickets, and prices depend on the night. Seats are roughly £17 to £35, so the night you choose changes the cost. For celebrations, ask about table decoration and group arrangements when you book.

Free and cheap nights

If budget matters, Garlands is free, Peek-a-Booze runs free bingo on Wednesdays and Rendezvous lists entertainment from Thursday to Sunday. See our budget stays too.

Stay close

Funny Girls is 1 to 2 minutes from several stays including Rendezvous, Pride Lodge and Q Accommodation, and 2 to 3 minutes from Peek-a-Booze and Trades.

What should I know about venue rules?

Funny Girls is 18+ and some shows use pyrotechnics and loud bangs. Garlands is free to enter. Lu-Lu's is cash only. Check each venue before travelling.

Can I do a drag night on a budget?

Yes. Start at Garlands for free, take standing tickets at Funny Girls from about £10, and finish with karaoke. Peek-a-Booze lists free bingo on Wednesdays.

Can I see drag on a Monday or Tuesday?

Garlands lists daily drag, so yes. Funny Girls runs show nights Wednesday to Sunday on listed times.

How do I pick the right show night?

Think about the mood. Funny Girls is busiest at the end of the week, so expect a full house. Wednesday or Thursday gives you an easier evening and often a simpler booking. Seasonal shows are worth planning around: Halloween, Christmas, New Year's Eve, and the 2027 spring and summer productions all have listed runs.

What happens after the show?

Oscars, in the same building as Funny Girls, has karaoke and live music once the show ends, Wednesday to Saturday. A short stroll takes you to Queen Street and The Flying Handbag, or back to a stay on Dickson Road such as Peek-a-Booze or Lu-Lu's.

Policies, prices and facilities can change, so confirm details with the property before you book.
