The Flying Handbag: Queen Street's Anchor Bar

The Flying Handbag is the all-day, all-week bar at the heart of Queen Street, which makes it a natural anchor for a weekend with a hotel close by.

What is The Flying Handbag like?

Most visitors end up here at some point. It was designed from scratch as an LGBTQ+ venue, with a curved bar, a stage for cabaret, a glazed conservatory and a sun terrace, and the mix of drag hosting, karaoke, quizzes and DJs keeps the week varied. By day it is a laid-back spot for lunch and a drink; after dark it gets loud and packed. It has occupied its Queen Street corner since 2006. It is 18+ and checks ID.
